Babel II

Oil on canvas, reclaimed wood, copper nails

20” × 18”

Connected to the Glyph-State series, the Babel series combines pieces of destroyed paintings with discarded or refuse objects found in an urban landscape. The glyphs suggest a link between this moment in time, and others, in which one may have lived other lives, spoken different languages, and understood concepts that are currently obscured. However, in this deconstructed context, they speak to loss of connection, communication breakdown, and fundamental inability to understand.
